Haughton completes maiden Ginetta GT5 voyage at Thruxton

Harley headed into his first race weekend feeling optimistic after a couple of productive test days at the circuit, however he and the team encountered some engine issues in qualifying. This lead to Harley qualifying 17th overall, a much lower position than his true pace hinted he could achieve.

Race 1 – The track was half wet and half dry. Harley and the Elite Motorsport personnel agreed to gamble on slick tyres due to a poor qualifying and Haughton flew through the field up to a respectable 7th place finish in his first ever car race.

Race 2 – The track had now fully dried out and Harley was eager to make progress up the field, however the engine issues from Qualifying seemed to have returned and he could only manage a climb up to 14th with the car way off pace.

Overall it was a positive weekend for Harley as he got a taste of the world of car racing and challenged many experienced drivers, and it was just unfortunate that he was down on power in both Qualifying and Race 2.
